10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) ☆☆☆☆1/2

This is by far one of the best films I've seen in years; and one of the best sequels of all time. 

While you're experiencing a truly thrilling scenario, the thought of this actually being a sister-film to Cloverfield is quite unrealistic. Fortunately, we were not duped or let down. 10 Cloverfield Lane is a two-in-one thriller. 

Imagine being on The Walking Dead. Now imagine being locked in the prison with Merle alone. This film gives you that plus more. I cannot wait to see what they bring next. 

The Chosen (2015) ☆☆☆

When a child stealing demon attaches itself to a little girl, her family is thrust into a battle against time in order to save the girl and send the demon back to hell. Sounds simple enough, right? 

Spoiler alert; the number six comes into play when blood sacrifices are the answer. I know, shocking. When I first saw this trailer, I had low hopes. A youtuber with little acting skill and experience starring as the lead in a horror film? No thanks. 

I was surprised to find he wasn't all that bad. Kian Lawley is a pretty decent actor when given the right spooks and co-stars. There were elements of creativity and a chuckle or two, but overall the movie is alright for being immediately released to Netflix. 

You're Next (2011) ☆☆☆☆

When the Davison family comes under attack during their wedding anniversary getaway, the gang of mysterious killers soon learns that one of the victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back.

Rotten Tomatoes gave this film a very respectable 75%. Other platforms weren't so kind and turned me off of the film until this past weekend. With a line along one of my favorites; The Strangers, I had much higher hopes for this rather than the half of star Netflix viewers deemed. 

I would recommend this to anyone looking for inspiration if your home ever came under attack, and of course to my gore lovers. While I did figure out the twist slightly earlier than the film revealed, I still very much enjoyed it and would pay to see it again. 

Don't Blink (2014) ☆☆

Ten people arrive at a secluded mountain resort to find it completely deserted. With no gas for the return trip, the visitors are forced to stay and investigate the mystery surrounding the abandoned lodge.
